Wall treatments are one of the best ways to add style to your home office, but applying them can be some serious work, not to mention expensive. Luckily though, the “Tears Off” modular wallpaper created by the Latvian design company ZNAK is a relatively quick and easy way to give your office a fresh new look, all while allowing you to exercise your creative side.
Made up of specially designed perforated pieces which were inspired by the “transformation process of snakes”, the “Tears Off” wallpaper lets you create your own custom design by tearing off patterned strips of the wallpaper sheet in different formations to reveal the original wall color beneath. The non-woven wallpaper comes in 11 different colors, and can be purchased for 10.00 EUR per sheet.
Formerly known as Westinghouse Systems, Invensys Rail is a UK based company that offers state of the art railway control and communication solutions. Operating from several offices around the UK, Invensys Rail frequently calls upon the services of 3Sphere, one of the UK’s leading independent office design companies, who are responsible for several inspirational working environments around London including Guardian News and Media, Santander, DC Advisory Partners, Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, and Heidrick & Struggles.
Among the numerous design concepts completed by 3Sphere is this amazing speculative feasibility project commissioned by Invensys, who wanted to explore an office design that retained a contemporary and minimalist working environment, while also incorporating a diesel locomotive train simulator and railway turntable right in the middle of the office. The result is this stunning futuristic suite of renders that do a good job of highlighting the creative flair 3Sphere built their reputation on.
Sadly the project never reached the implementation stage, so all we are left with are these pictures for now. Hopefully the company will eventually decide to push the project forward because this would definitely be a cool office to work in!
Reckless Getaway comes from the same developer as Life of Android fave Reckless Racing, moving the emphasis away from circuit racing to a headlong hurtle down freeways and dirt tracks while trying to leave the chasing cops eating dust or better still running them off the road, leaving twisted metal mayhem in your wake.
THE EXPERIENCE
Reckless Getaway has two game modes: Getaway and Wreckless. Choose the first and you’re tasked with negotiating more and more difficult levels as you strive to escape the cops time and time again. Collecting coins along your route boosts your score and you’ll collect power-ups that allow your car to leap over obstacles, enjoy a nitrous oxide-assisted speed boost, or unleash a powerful sonic wave that destroys all other vehicles in your path. Choose Wreckless from the list and instead of a feeble car you’re blessed with a hulking truck that pulverises everything in its path and, since that’s the object of Wreckless, that’s really rather handy. Either way, the object of the game is pure destruction.
You control your vehicle with either left and right softkeys, situated as you’d expect on the left- and right-hand side of the screen, or if you’re feeling adventurous you can go for the tilt controls that employ your handsets accelerometer to move left and right. Acceleration is handled for you and braking… Well, you won’t need brakes.
Your score for each level consists of four stars, you’ll need to score as high as you can to unlock the next few levels of both Getaway and Wreckless and this is no walk in the park. Scoring above two out of four on most levels requires superhuman skills, so this isn’t a game you’re going to waltz through in a matter of hours.
